Materials: hemp, waxed linen (12 ply natural, butterscotch)
Notes: Gifted to Kaleialoha Roback. The design was inspired by the Makaloa mats of Ni'ihau. This particular design is intended to represent ʻohana (family, extended family, community).

Okika

First Hawaiian basket design, 'okika', Hawaiian for 'orchid'. As usual, Fibonacci inspired pattern. Yarn is hand dyed on Maui. Gifted to Cruz Ortiz, owner of Yarn & Needlecraft of Maui. Mahalo for all you help and advice Cruz!
